I have a dream
TO BUILD A SMART AND MORE HUMAN CITY

The Dream

The Cisco Urban Innovation Project (Projeto de Inovação Urbana da Cisco), developed for the 2016 Olympic Games, helped with the revitalization of Porto Maravilha (Wonder Harbor), creating a more connected, intelligent and personable neighborhood.

It was a great change, made feasible by a Iot platform, focused on empowering citizens through knowledge and giving them the tools to make themselves the forerunner for current and future transformation.

How do we show the public that the infrastructure legacy given to Rio by Cisco can empower people through the use of data and technology, highlighting all its transformative power?

"The Cisco Urban Innovation Project is the true demonstration of our vision on how to create a more intelligent and humanized city. When we feel the city, when we are connected with it, we embrace it differently. We start to take care of our city, we innovate, and become ‘makers’. "

Senior Director of Innovations, Cisco.

BUILDING THE DREAM

Transformative technology

We are fond of this subject. We used all of our knowledge on the matter to go beyond simply showing Cisco’s legacy. We allowed people to interact with, and live in the true definition of a Smart City.

Cisco enthusiastically embraced the project, and we started a great partnership. It took months of combined work to develop the concept and to create experiences, products and relevant services that engaged and gave shape to the usable possibilities for the platform that Cisco gifted to Rio.

HIGHLIGHTS

Listen to the city

A never before seen experience: music was created by the data gathered in the city. Information on urban mobility, weather, social media engagement and connectivity, all collected in real time by Cisco Urban Innovation Platform, were transformed into music. The music played in the app changes its vibration and rhythm according to the data flow variation, mirroring the changes in the city.

Interactive Totems

Four intelligent and interactive totems, with transportation information, nearby restaurants, current time and weather. In addition, people can take pictures and post them on social media.

I take care app

Three projects surrounding sustainable tourism gathered in favor of the revitalization of the Wonder Harbor locations. Building the city with our own hands empowers us.

Happy-o-meter app

This app checks social media messages that were made in several Wonder Harbor spots, looks for smiles and supplies a happiness ranking in real time.

Olympic Cisco House

A house specially created to show how YDreams found a way to more personally communicate Cisco’s legacy. Anyone who entered the house could interact with icons around the rooms and immerse in the story behind the project wearing VR glasses.

Data Sensing

Cisco, YDreams and Museum of Tomorrow (Museu do Amanhã) partnership encourage the use of the collected data and the platform technology to create innovation, art and knowledge.
